I apologize for the delay in this post. The last week has been a little crazy.
In case you didn’t hear Chip and Joanna Gaines were in Fargo!!!
Tate and I bought a Farm.
Tate and I sold our House.
Joanna Gaines came to my house.
Chip Gaines did a fully clothed Magic Mike pose on the checkout counter of Eco Chic. (Keep Reading…you didn’t think I would put that photo at the beginning of the post)
And that was just the first 24 hours…
What began with a “What If?” ended with a “What was that!?!”
The pure joy and excitement that exploded out of the first annual Eco Chic Design Conference can only be explained as somewhat of a dream.
I remember over a year ago stumbling upon a show on HGTV and thinking “what an adorable couple.” After watching a few more episodes I was hooked…and the question was asked at one of our team meetings. What if…we could get them to come to Fargo?
Then we laughed and realized that would never happen…and kept drinking our lattes.
Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that one short year later they would be standing in my kitchen.
God is Good.
Did you get that, JOANNA FREAKING GAINES IN MY KITCHEN!! And, we got Tate in a picture. It was a night of miracles.
It was also a night of laughter and celebrations. Chip kept us entertained with stories and we celebrated Joanna’s birthday that had been a few days earlier with an amazing caramel cake made by my dear friend Crystal Maus.
Then I got to show Joanna the part of my house inspired by her. My newly redecorated basement.
My new shiplap shirt fit in nicely with the newly shiplapped fireplace. I never would have imagined Joanna would ever see it when I was working on it.
We retired early that evening because the next day was started bright and early with a staff and family brunch at the Eco Chic Design Center.
Here are some photos.
From the food to Joanna shopping in the store it was a morning of blessings.
I was so nervous about the days events I didn’t event notice all the nice touches the girls at Cracked Pepper added…even the silverware wraps say Good Morning. They really did an amazing job with the food. The candied bacon was a hit with Chip. I was to nervous to eat it. You know things are shaking me up when I turn down bacon. I won’t let that happen again.
Before breakfast Joanna asked if she could do a little shopping in Eco Chic. We of course said no Thank You…Ha!! Just Kidding! We tripped over each other opening the store and helping her shop. This is Joanna Gaines and she wants to shop in our store!!! It could have been my wedding day I would have said to the priest “Excuse me Father Mike but we need to wait until Joanna can shop at the store. Tate will understand.” I’m sure somewhere in our vows we said something about “until death do us part” or “until Joanna Gaines is done shopping at Eco Chic” both are very serious.
In all seriousness it was a great honor and blessing to have Joanna shop at our store. One of these days I will share with you the story of the day we had a whopping $16 in daily sales…we will cry, and sing Soft Kitty and then thank the good Lord for days gone by and miracles of HGTV stars shopping in our store. Like I said, It was all like a dream….
Brunch continued and many new friends were made, photos taken and candied bacon consumed.
After brunch we headed back into the store to grab some staff photos with Chip & Joanna.
A second Tate sighting…if he isn’t careful people are going to believe I’m actually married to him. He tends to be camera shy… or should we say social media shy. He doesn’t know a tweet from a post. Maybe that is one of the things that makes him so cute.
I was thinking of having the above photo framed and hanging it in our hallway in place of my wedding photo. Do you think that is weird? Too much maybe? Yeah, I’ll just put it next to it.
Another blessing of the day was being able to get the entire Fargo and Bismarck crew together. We have such an amazing team! Really. Really. AHMAZING!
If you look closely you might even see a rare glimpse of Ethan. We don’t get to have him grace our presence often, but when we do he reminds us how lucky we are…and we agree. Then he give us chocolate. Or maybe that is just me he gives chocolate too. He uses it to settle me down. I sometimes feel like a trained dog. But then again it is Ethan..and it is chocolate. I’ll take it.
Shortly after staff photos…this happened. In true Chip fashion.
You are welcome.
Then I woke up!! SEE IT WAS A DREAM!
As my nephews would say.
IT WAS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!
We are headed to the fairgrounds to start setting up for Junk Market tomorrow. I promise Part 2 as soon as I can find time. You aren’t going to believe what else Chip did, and said. Both changed my world and faith…forever.
